John Moyer is the bassist for heavy metal band Disturbed. Prior to joining Disturbed, Moyer played in rock bands The Union Underground and Soak, both major label acts hailing from Texas. Having joined Disturbed in 2004, John’s playing can be heard on the band’s third (Ten Thousand Fists), fourth (Indestructible) and fifth (Asylum) studio albums. All three albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and between them they produced eight No. 1 singles on rock radio. John also played on the last Disturbed release, The Lost Children, a collection of B-sides and rarities. Disturbed was also nominated for a Grammy Award for their song “Inside The Fire” off the album,  Indestructible. John joined Adrenaline Mob in 2012. As such, his most recent performances can be heard on Adrenaline Mob’s 2013 cover album Coverta and their upcoming record Men of Honor.

While he is still capable of playing finger-style, Moyer prefers picking because it has a more aggressive feeling.

On February 8, 2012, it was announced that Moyer joined the supergroup Adrenaline Mob while Disturbed is on hiatus.

On April 19, 2013, Moyer was announced to be filling in for Rudy Sarzo on bass for five tour dates in Geoff Tate’s lineup formed after his dismissal from Queensrÿche.

On May 14, 2014, Moyer was involved in a tour bus accident while on tour with Adrenaline Mob supporting Avenged Sevenfold. No serious injuries were sustained by any of the band-members.

On August 4, 2014, Moyer announced that he would not be joining Adrenaline Mob for their upcoming fall tours. As a result, the band began looking for a new bassist, thus ending Moyer’s tenure with the band.

In January 2015, Moyer formed a new band with Scott Weiland, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, twins Jon and Vince Votta entitled Art of Anarchy, with an album set to release in Spring 2015.

As a producer John works with independent rock and metal bands.

In 2011 John released a bass instructional video titled “Modern Metal Bass” for Rock House Publishing.

John has also penned the score for the video game, Scivelation (previously known as Salvation), a third-person shooter being developed by TopWare Interactive and Ukrainian developer, Black Wing Foundation for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.  It is scheduled to be released in 2014.

John currently plays Spector basses and Hartke amps.

From 2008 to 2013 Moyer had a signature line of basses with BC Rich. He and the company produced his signature BC Rich Havoc. He also has a signature line of speaker cabinets and practice amps with Kustom featuring his own design of a skull engulfed in flames printed on the front.

Moyer had a custom line with Traben bass company. He and the company produced his signature Traben Havoc. He also has custom amps with Kustom featuring his own design printed on the front resembling a skull engulfed in flames.[5]

Recently, Moyer has signed an endorsement deal with BC Rich Guitars, who now manufacture Moyer’s signature Havoc bass. They can do this because they are owned by the same holding company as Traben.

In 2014, Moyer has been seen with some Spector bass models like Euro LX5.
